Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said on Friday he would be alive in another 20years to celebrate the 90th birthday of Bishop David Oyedepo with him.
The 87years old retired general and elder statesman disclosed this while giving his short remarks at the 70th birthday ceremony of the clergy man inside his Faith Tabernacle church arena in Canaan Land, Ota, Ogun State.
The event attracted top spiritual and political leaders in Nigeria with some traditional rulers who gathered to celebrate the significant contributions of Oyedepo to both Christian community, Nigeria and the world.
Notable among those distinguished personalities were: Pastor Enoch Adeboye, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, Archbishop Margaret Idahosa, Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, Pastor Paul Enenche, Pastor David Ibiyeomie, Pastor Poju Oyemade, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, and Pastor Jerry Eze, Pastor Segun Abugon,
The political leaders included Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his deputy Obafemi Hamzat, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Senator Gbenga Daniel, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, Professor Jerry Gana and representatives of some other state governors.
Obasanjo stood up athletically from his seat and moved briskly to the altar, when his name was mentioned in recognition of his presence at the program by Bishop David Abioye.
The untired retired soldier and elder statesman had said in July 2015 that he would live beyond 100years at the 25th coronation of the then Akarigbo of Remoland, late Oba(Dr) Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo, in Sagamu, Ogun State.
On this Bishop Oyedepo's birthday, he eulogised the celebrant, prayed for his continued success and said:
“God will keep expanding your coast....
At 70 one thing you can never stop doing and you must never stop doing is thanking God.
"From the septuagenarian you will become octogenarian. And I will be here with you. From octogenarian, you will become nonagenarian. And I will also be here with you. After that, I will leave you alone and God will be with you.”
With that statement he implied that in the next 20years he would still be alive to celebrate the 90th birthday of the bishop with him.
By then he would have turned 107.
