How Senate President's Aide, Prince Seyi Olubanjo Celebrated Mom's 80th Birthday In Style.

The Special Assistant to the President of The Nigerian Senate on Policy Research and Documentation, Prince Oluseyi Abidemi Olubanjo, recently celebrated his mother's 80th Birthday in style.
His mother, Madam Beatrice Afolake OLUBANJO, fondly called Mama Nurse, joined the club of octogenarians on Saturday, 10th August, 2024.
To celebrate the 80th birthday, her first son, Prince Olubanjo and his siblings organized a glorious ceremony with thanksgiving service for her in their Ago Iwoye home town in Ogun State.
Olubanjo who is also a long time political associate and mentee of the Leader of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Sen. (Dr) Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, ensured that as the eldest scion of the retired nurse, he made mama felt extremely happy and fulfilled through that special celebration.
The birthday programme organized on Sunday, 11 August, 2024, started at 10am with a church thanksgiving programme held at the Methodist Church, Idode, Ago Iwoye.
The presiding minister at the thanksgiving service, Very Rev. Awonuga, encouraged the celebrant to continue in the service of God and be grateful to God at all times.
According to the clergywoman, the celebrant needed to be grateful for all the mercies and grace she has enjoyed from God.
In her sermon, she admonished the guests and children of the celebrant to surrender their lives to Christ, if they have not, and become born again Christians, live a purpose-driven life that brings glory and honour to the name of Almighty God.
After the thanksgiving service, they went for the reception held in her residence at Olubanjo Close, Off Onabamiro Street, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State.
There and then the merriment aspect of the ceremony began with the entertainment of guests at 2pm through dining and winning, with dancing and all that.
The chairman of the occasion was Chief Olukayode Kaka, the father of Hon. Segun Kaka who is currently representing Ifelodun Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
Of course, the Senate Leader, Sen. Bamidele, was invited but he couldn't attend the ceremony because he was busy elsewhere on a national assignment; and nobody represented him at the event.
Same with Olubanjo's long time political associate and former Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Hon. Olusegun Olulade, who was also absent at the event.
In her remarks, Madam Olubanjo gave thanks to the Almighty God for giving her the grace to be hale and hearty at 80.
According to her, she lost her mother at age 9 and her father at 22. Inspite of many life vicissitudes, she has lived long enough to enjoy the fruits of her labour.
She consequently gave glory to God for giving her good Children and grandchildren. All her children are successful today, each doing well in their chosen professions in Nigeria and in the diaspora.
Before the event came to a close by 7pm, her eldest son, Prince Olubanjo, gave the vote of thanks to the guests, by expressing a heartfelt gratitude to everyone at the occasion, and those who couldn't attend but supported them one way or the other.
Prince Olubanjo, a deacon in The Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, is the National Secretary of the Olabisi Onabanjo University Alumni Association from 2019 till date.
He is also the Editor-in-Chief of the newly established Ijebu Summit News Magazine.
