SUCCESS STRATEGY: OGUN FINANCE COMMISSIONER TASKS WATER CORP. ON COMMERCIAL VIABILITY, PLEDGES SUPPORT FOR AFD

For Ogun State Government to achieve success in its efforts to make constant à nd efficient distribution of water across the State possible, the Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo has advised the State Water Corporation (OGSWC) to apply creativity in its operations and let it be more commercially viable.
He gave the advice during a meeting with officials of the Federal Ministry of Finance, OGSWC, Project Management Support (PMS) and the Agence Francaise de-Development (AFD) in Abeokuta.
Creativity, according to Mr. Okubadejo, would enable the management of the Water Corporation to operate at optimal level.

He urged the leadership of the Corporation to adopt cross subsidization and leverage on the industrial and commercial areas across the State.
The Commissioner however, assured the Corporation of more of government support.
According to him, the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun was passionate about smooth running of water across the State, and would not rest on his oars at achieving the government’s objectives, as demonstrated in the level of support accorded Donor Agencies and Development Partners.
The Commissioner then expressed appreciation for AFD's intervention and support towards the State’s Water Corporation.
While speaking earlier, the Team lead, AFD, Famy Nesen, had expressed satisfaction with the level of implementation of the various intervention and support by the OGSWC, which are evident through the solid infrastructure, innovations and personnel.
He advised the Corporation not to lower the standard of implementation, as this would determine the level of future support from the Agency.

A member of the team from the Federal Ministry of Finance, Engr. Kazim Nafiu also counselled the State to stick with the terms and conditions of its intervention, even as it applauded the State for the strides.
Earlier in his welcome address, the General Manager, OGSWC, Engr. Oluseye Maku appreciated the government and AFD for the collaboration, which he said has enhanced the Corporation’s capacity.
He also disclosed that the Corporation was working towards achieving a sustainable tariff for water consumers in the State.
