2023 Campaign Strategy: Gov Abiodun mobilizes, empowers Ogun women with "Oko'wo Dapo" loan scheme

Here is the latest gist about one of  Governor Dapo Abiodun's political strategies to win the 2023 gubernatorial elections and secure his second term.

 The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun this Friday, August 12,assembled women leaders of his All Progressive Congress, APC, across the state and other women at the Obas Complex, Governor's Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta for the purpose of expanding his administration empowerment program for women.

It was attended by his wife, Her Excellency, Bamidele Abiodun, the Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako Oyedele, the state Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Funmilayo Efuwape, and other top government functionaries.

Going by the tweet he tweeted via his Twitter handle @dabiodunMFR on Friday evening :  

  "Oko'Wo Dapo, our social welfare programme for the womenfolk has been a major success which we are expanding to every part of Ogun State, hence the validation exercise for ward facilitators of this lofty initiative, whose major goal is to provide socioeconomic support for our women"

Since winning elections and succeeding in governance require a lot of tactics and strategies. This obviously was among the reasons the governor was focusing more on the social welfare program for women, by expanding it across each ward in the state.

No fewer than fifty thousand women have already benefited from the scheme in three local government areas of the state. While over five hundred million naira have been contributed so far by the women.

No specific amount of money is being given to each woman who wants to benefit from the welfare program.

Every beneficiary contributed according to her financial capacity weekly and then get four times what is saved monthly, as revolving loans.

According to the Governor,

"If you contribute two thousand weekly and you now have eight thousand Naira in the fourth week, our government will give you thirty-two thousand naira loan. If it is five thousand naira you contribute weekly and you now have twenty thousand at the end of the four weeks, our government will now borrow you eighty thousand Naira," he added.

Since one good turn deserves another, it follows that as more women benefit from the social welfare program across the state, they can continue to campaign for the governor's second term, so that the welfare program can be sustained.
