Kano State stood still on Friday with no fewer than fifteen private jets landing at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, as political juggernauts and other movers and shakers of the country stormed the state for the wedding of President Muhammadu Buhari's son, Yusuf, with the Bichi Emir's daughter, Zahra Ado-Bayero.

 Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Senate President Ahmed Lawan, members of the National Assembly, state governors, ministers, were the most notable among the thousands of dignitaries who stormed the state with President Buhari for the ceremony.

It was a great day of honour for the nation's first citizen and his wife, Aisha as their only son left bachelorhood to become a family man.

The socio-economic atmosphere  in the state changed consequently as soon as those dignitaries began to arrive.

All major hotels in the state were fully booked by guests who came from within and outside Nigeria for the event.

Former president of Niger Republic, Muhamadou Isoufou was also in attendance.

Chief of Staff to the President, Prof Ibrahim Gambari, who led the Federal Government delegation to the event, was accompanied by the Ministers of Agriculture, Water Resources and others. 

Many state governors, led by their Chairman, Dr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti and their host, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, were also seen; Governor Yahaya  Bello of Kogi, Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa, Aminu Tambuwa of Sokoto and Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe.

The ceremony commenced after the Friday's Jumait prayers at the palace of the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado- Bayero.

The Minister of Communication and Digital Information, Sheikh Isa Pantami conducted the wedding.

Five hundred thousand naira was paid as a bride price by Buhari's uncle, Mamman Daura, which was received by the business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata on behalf of the bride.

The groom who dressed in white native attire, was accompanied by a host of his friends, who came to the event with him.
