Success and leadership lessons my father taught me early in life -Kolade Segun Okeowo

By Charles Segun Adegbite

Veteran gospel movie producer and Chairman/CEO of Zionstone Media, Evang. Kolade Segun Okeowo has attributed his success in life and ministry to the grace of God and some lessons his father taught him early in life on success and leadership.

According to KSO, as he is fondly called, his late father, Akogun Segun Okeowo, of the Ali-Must-Go students unrest, began to teach him how to succeed in life when he(KSO) was just eleven years old.

"My father would say, 'People normally say a fool at 40 is a fool forever, but I tell you that a fool at 14 is a fool forever. Be wise from now, so that you won't be a fool by the time you are 14years old'

"This statement inspired me to become matured fast and began to think fast like an adult while I was in my teens." KSO disclosed.

He added that at that tender age his father made it compulsory for him to sit down and watch the NTA News at 9 with him in his sitting room, for him to be abreast of what things going on in the country.

This, according to him, led to his interest in governance, leadership, politics and current affairs early in life: and apparently spurred him to study History at the Olabisi Onabanjo  University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, when he was just around 15years old. He consequently graduated when he was around the age of 19.

Of course, he was the overall best student in secondary school at the prestigious Mayflower School, Ikenne, in which he got six distinctions in his West African School Certificate Examination (WASCE).

Apart from studying Masters degree in International Relations at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, when he was just around 21years old; he is currently a PhD student of Political Science at the premier university, the University of Ibadan.

He became the first General Secretary of the All Nigeria Conference of Evangelical Drama Ministers(ANCEDRAM) when he was around 26years old. And he later became the President of the association in 2009.

This drama evangelist became the Founder/Provost of the Christoline Film Academy in 2000 when he was less than 30 years old.
