The duo are from Ogun State and are now octogenarians.
Chief Osoba who is younger, will clock 81years on July 15 this year, while Dr Osoba celebrated his 85th birthday on January 9, this year.
Chief Osoba is a veteran journalist, politician and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC),while Dr Osoba is an academic, historian and Marxist Theory crusader.
Chief Osoba, although was born in Osogbo, Osun State, is an Egba man from Abeokuta, Ogun State, while Dr Osoba is an Ijebu man who was born in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

Chief Osoba attended Methodist Boys High School, Lagos, and on the other hand Dr Osoba was at Ijebu-Ode Grammar School (1947-53) Ogun State where he had his early education.
Chief Osoba got Diploma in Journalism from the University of Lagos while Dr Osoba graduated at the then University College, Ibadan(now UI).
Chief Osoba studied on Scholarship in Bloomington, USA at the Indiana University's department of journalism, won the Nieman Fellowship Award for journalism for postgraduate study at Harvard University Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA, Dr Osoba on tho other hand got his doctoral degree at the Moscow State University (1963-67) in the defunct USSR.
While Chief Osoba governed Ogun State twice between 1992 and 1993, and 1999-2003, Dr Osoba was one of the progressive lecturers who made the OAU a hub of radical students unionism as he mentored and inspired many students with his Marxists methodological approach in those days.
