They call themselves Happy People, through their slogans, but their corporate name is Hoteliers Association of Nigeria(HAN). And in order to make themselves more happy and to appreciate one another, members of the Sagamu Zone of this association organised an end-of-year party on Thursday 9th January, 2020. It was a day of merriment for these people.
The Ogun State President of the association, Otunba Segun Timi was not left out, as he stormed Taichild Place, Sagamu, venue of the event, to celebrate with them. Through winning and dining, dancing and carousing, they enjoyed themselves fully.
Beyond merriment however, was the presentation of Certificate of Office to their Executive members. This was done after honouring some members with awards and special gifts; for their different contributions to the development of the association in the zone.
First among the recipients of the awards was the Founder/Chairman of Bamise Akanpo Guest House, Alhaji Abdul Azeez Femi Oteju, nicknamed Akanpo. He was bestowed with Appreciation Award in recognition of his immense contributions to the development of the association.
He had been the treasurer and chairman of the association for many years and made a lot of efforts which enabled the body to grow from its old status as Association of Hotel Proprietors in Sabo, Sagamu, to the level of bringing together all those operating in Sagamu and its environs, until they joined HAN in Ogun State and reached the present status.
The second awardee who also got a special gift there, was the Chairman of Adebola Guest House and the General Secretary in the zone, Otunba Sunday Oyeyemi, who was honoured with Excellent Award in recognition of his relentless efforts in growing the association.
Of course, his contributions were being observed, even when he was not aware that his consistent efforts here and there, which he regarded to be little were being noticed.
Immediately after the presentation of awards, Mr Gabriel Ola Falaye, Otunba Muritala Adelaja Idowu and Otunba Oyeyemi were also given special gifts for their various contributions to the association.
In showing appreciation, Otunba Idowu expressed gratitude on behalf of the recipients of those special gifts.
Speaking on the event, the State President, Otunba Timi described it as a fantastic gathering, while Otunba Idowu saw it as an interesting event.
This was followed with the presentation of certificate to their Executive Members of the association in the zone. Here are they:
Olotu Omoba Taiwo Adenusi, The Chairman
Prince Olumuyiwa Olukokun, Deputy Chairman
