He spent 4 years and one month before he was gunned down by assassin at age 56. Consequently he was the first American leader who was assassinated while in power.
2) James Garfield
This 20th US President who was born on November 19, 1831 was a member of the Republican Party, inaugurated President on March 4, 1881 at the age of 49.
Garfield did not spend a year in office as American President before he was gunned down on September 19, 1881.
So he became the second American leader who became victim of guns. Before becoming US President Garfield had served nine terms in the House of Representatives, and had been elected to the Senate before his candidacy for the White House, though he declined the Senate seat once he was elected president.
3) William McKinley
He was the 25th US President who took office on March 4, 1897 at age 54 years and a month.
Born on January 29, 1843, he was a member of the Republican Party.
He spent four years and six months before he was killed on September 14, 1901 (Six months into his second term in office) McKinley was the last president to have served in the American Civil War, and the only one to have started the war as an enlisted soldier, beginning as a private in the Union Army and ending as a brevet major.
He was the 39th Governor of the State of Ohio before he was elected president.
4) John Fitzgerald Kennedy
This 35th President of the United States was born in May 29, 1917. He was inaugurated in January 1961 and was assassinated with gunshot on November 22, 1963.
Commonly referred to by his initials JFK, was the last American president and the only Democratic Party member assassinated while in office. At age 43, he became the youngest elected president as well as the first and only Roman Catholic to occupy the office.
He spent 2years and 9 months before he was gun down by assassins. Kennedy served at the height of the Cold War, and much of his presidency focused on managing relations with the Soviet Union. A member of the United States House of Representatives, was a United States Senator prior to becoming president.
